2023 DTM Expo Details

Greetings from KCACTF Region 1 DTM (Design, Technology & Management) Team!

We are thrilled you are interested in presenting at the 2023 KCACTF Design, Technology & Management Expo at this year’s in-person festival in Hyannis. This email provides some short guidance to help you plan and prepare your presentation.

DTM is offering multiple presentation formats this year! Please look below and consider which format you would like to use for your presentation. These three options each have slightly different instructions, so make sure that you read each carefully.

Step 1 – Choose the option works best for you:

Option 1: Table Presentation

    • Students prepare and bring physical materials to the festival and display them in a communal hall with other students, for all Festival attendees to admire.
    • For Design & Technology students, this is an approx. 3’x3’ table to display your board and selected materials.
    • For Stage Management students, this looks like a family-style table with space for your SM binder and paperwork.
    • Students submit short presentation summary videos electronically by Jan 27th.
    • Students load in their materials on Wednesday, February 1, and strike them Saturday, February 4, before noon.
    • Presentations take place on Thursday or Friday; times will be communicated to students when they check in.
      • Design & Technology Responses consist of a group of respondents moving from board to board, having a 10 minute discussion with each presenter.
      • Stage Management responses consist of a one hour roundtable session, allowing for group discussion with multiple presenters and responders.
    • FULL (not Virtual) festival Registration is required.

Option 2: In-Person Digital Presentation

    • Students prepare and submit a digitized design presentation, to be displayed on a screen in a communal hall with other students, for all Festival attendees to admire.
    • Students submit short presentation summary videos electronically by Jan 27th.
    • The Festival provides a large television or projection screen in the expo room, in which their presentation will be available for viewing throughout the week. A presentation computer will also be provided and all students will present from the same computer.
    • Presentations take place on Thursday or Friday, with times communicated to students when they check in.
      • Design & Technology Responses consist of a group of respondents watching each presentation, having a 10 minute discussion with each presenter.
      • Stage Management responses will consist of a one hour roundtable session, allowing for group discussion with multiple presenters and responders.
    • FULL (not Virtual) festival Registration is required.

Option 3: Fully Remote Presentation

    • This option is designed for students who are unable to attend the festival in person.
    • Students submit short presentation summary videos electronically by Jan 27th.
    • Students present their work and chosen materials digitally
    • Remote presentations are anticipated to take place on the afternoon of Friday, Feb 3rd, or the morning of Saturday, Feb 4th.
    • Responses are held via a Zoom call, which will be communicated and provided at the start of the Festival.
    • Responses will consist of a group of respondents having a 10 minute discussion with each presenter over Zoom.
    • VIRTUAL festival registration is required.

Step 2 – Submit your selection(s) for your presentation format!

  • By January 1st, please choose your desired presentation format, by completing the DTM Expo Presentation Format Selection Form.
  • You will then receive follow up emails in preparation of the festival providing specific instructions, tips, reference points, and information on your participation.
  • If you are presenting in more than one (1) field or area of study, you can indicate this on your form!
Pro tip: seriously, be careful of biting off more than you can chew. We love to see all the work, but we only have so much time together. Plus there are tons of cool workshops and networking to do!

Step 3 – Prepare your materials

Once you’ve selected your format, you’ll have the intervening time before the festival starts to prep your work.

Step 4 – Submit video presentation summary by Jan 27, 2023

Students presenting in all formats must submit short presentation summary videos electronically by Jan 27th. Details of the video requirement will be sent once students submit their presentation format selections.

By January 31st each student presenter will be provided with a specific presentation time and location. For remote participants, this will be in the form of a Zoom link, with calendar invite.

Please reach out to a member of DTM Leadership if you have any questions about the presentation process:
