Chair, Devising

My life (personal and professional) has been driven by the power of connection. Connections with people and community. Connections with myself and my humanity. Connection with words and spaces. I grew up in Williamstown, MA. From a very young age I found myself passionately involved with local theater. My mentor, Linda White, gave me a foundation of acting skills, communication, empathy and a love for physically devised theater. Since then my professional life has brought me to communities all over the world including NYC, California, Indonesia, Germany, Taiwan, Scotland, Portugal, S.Carolina and Canada. Building community through devising theater methods and physical theater languages. Commedia Dell Arte (Mask and Melodrama), Shakespeare, Le Coq Red Nose Clowning, Society of American Fight Directors, Suzuki, Siti Company, Pilobulous, Pina Bausch and Slava Polunins are the methods, techniques and languages I have learned and used over the years in developing community. I co-founded Play Pathways Initiative, formerly known as B4 The Other Creations, in 2018 with the intent to teach play-based strategies for the realms of education and business. Rooted in Western Mass, Play Pathways travels throughout the US and internationally, as play is a universal language. This intimate work is led through movement, not lecture, and grounded in a Pedagogy of Play.
